[The influence of clonal apple rootstocks of different origin on the cultivar "Auksis" growth and development in Latvia]

Evaluation of clonal apple rootstocks suitability to the local environmental factors is one of the most important preconditions to the successful development of high density orchards in Latvia. Data on 1995 apple rootstocks trial allow to draw some conclusions about performance of several clonal rootstocks in nursery and the first years in orchard. Several clonal apple rootstocks of different origin were planted with cultivar "Auksis". Most of the trees have survived till the end of vegetation in 1997. O.3 showed signs of incompatibility with cultivar "Auksis", many trees of CG.30 suffered from wind.
