The harmful activity of annual weeds in spring barley crops was investigatigated in the period of 1992-1996. The resulting data of field trials on the biological effectivity of new herbicides have been analysed. It has been established that in sring barley 1-8 weed species prevail depending on the preceding crop. In the vegetation period the percentage correlation of weed species in agrophytocenosis of the barley field does not change. Correlation has been established between weed density and their mass during the heading stage of barley. Regression equations have been calculated showing the dependence of barley yield on weed density and their mass per unit area as well as on the number of individual weeds. Economic efficiency of the herbicides application for the control of Stellaria media and Matricaria inodora has been proven
