Collection, evaluation and maintenance of aroid, fern and its allied ornamental plant

A survey and field trips on ornamental growers, garden farms and second growth forest were conducted to collect aroid, ferns and their allies from 1986 to 1995. There are nine major important genera, miniature and aquatic aroid with a total of 85 species and 32 fern species and their allies collected from selected parts of the Philippines. Of the 85 species of aroid and 32 fern species collected, Anthurium andreanum, Philodendron selloum, Dieffenbachia amoena, "Tropical Snow" Nephrolepis biserrata "furcans", Polypodium punctatum, Asparagus densiflorus cv. sprengeri were found to have potential in the local market
