Storage root is the primary product of sweetpotato. Other than the roots, the shoot is used as planting material. Sweetpotato residues in the form of non-marketable roots and vines, and unmarketed roots (for several reasons) are produced in bulk ranging from 0.5-7.8 tons/ha while SPR vines produced ranges from 6 - 40.2 tons/ha in 1997. SPR roots and vines are popularly used as livestock feeds. Carabao consumes the largest part of SPR in the farm, followed by cattle and swine. Nutritionally, SPR supplies vitamins and minerals such as protein, crbohydrates, fats, calcium, potassium and vitamin A. SPR vines are used as packaging materials when bagging roots for the market. SPR roots and vines left in the farm are either burned, dried or chopped. Chopped SPR roots are plowed over to decompose. SPR vines are mulched on trees or vegetables. Spoiled roots and vines when piled, support mushroom growth. These findings serve as important inputs in planning succeeding farm activities. Integrated nutrient management focuses on the sustenance of soil fertility, efficiency of fertilizer usage and sustainability. In practicing INM, available nutrients in the soil after harvesting sweetpotato serves as basis in planning the quantity and kind of fertilizers to be used in the succeeding crop-rice. For the next sweetpotato planting season, the choice of variety would give a farmer an idea on the kind and amount of SPR he can produce and utilize in his farm. Verification on the use of SPR as organic fertilizer, verification trials in processing SPR to improve conservation and utilization; effects of SPR on breeding, fattening, and milking carabao/cattle; commercialization of SPR based feeds are recommended for further studies to be conducted by the farmers and supervised by the scientists
