Demography of greenbug (Homoptera: Aphididae) on wheat

Laboratory studies on life table of greenbug Schizaphis graminum (Rondani) on Kohinoor, Mehran-89 and Sarsabz wheat varieties were conducted during winter 1991. Life parameters, history on reproduction, longevity, total offsprings, innate capacity of increase (r) and man generation time were compared. The results indicated that the number of days to reproduction, mean generation time of three wheat cultivars were different, whereas longevity, total offsprings and innate capacity of increase were significantly different. The adult longevity was the highest on Mehran (41 days) followed buy Kohinoor (31 days) and Sarsabz (22 days). Similarly the total number of offspring per female was the lowest in Sarsabz (2.37) and the highest in Mehran- 89 (23.49). The innate capacity of increase (r) values were lowest for Sarsabz and highest for Mehran-89. The mortality in all the cultivars were high initially but decreased later gradually.
