In field experiments, the effect of stand height, dry matter content, dry matter roots, dry matter cobs and dry matter yield of three maize hybrids for silage (CE-185, TO-MV-335, TO-MV-460) on dry matter yield of four lucerne varietes (Palava, Nitranka, Rod-D, Regia) in undersowing of maize stand were studied. The most negative effect on undersowing was had by stand height and cob yield. These stand elements also exerted a negative effect on dry matter yield and dry roots weight. The examined stand elements were also affected by maize hybrid and lucerne variety. Dry matter contents at harvest of hybrid CE-185 positive correlated with dry matter yield of undersowing. The roots dry matter weight of TO-MV-460 in contrary to other hybrids did not have a negative influence on undersown plants. The generally negative influence of maize dry matter yield did not reach a significant level on undersowing of Rod-D. On the other hand maize roots dry matter weight decreased yield only in the case of the undersown variety Palava
