Penetrometrical methods have been used worldwide in agriculture over the last twenty years. Penetrometer design proceeds in two directions in agriculture - portable hand penetrometers, and mobile devices on light chassis or mounted on mobile equipment. The portable hand cone penetrometer with digital recorder described herein enables to take about 500 penetrometrical measurements with a resistance of soil penetration ranging from 0 to 6 MPa at a depth of 0-50 cm. Used sensors and electronic parts allow the time of measuring to be kept for up to 10 hours in the field. After wiring, data can be transported into a PC and processed in tabular and graphic form. After passing exacting tests, the apparatus is ready to be manufactured
