Genetic markers and fertility of pigs

Different types of molecular-genetic markers as well as the basic methods of identification of locuses influencing qualitative traits (QTL) are characterised in the first part of this study. Thereafter, a survey of locuses associated with the fertility of pigs is presented, viz. locuses on chromosomes 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 13, and 16 and the locus determining the sex on the chromosome Y. Using both literary data and research results obtained at the Department of Genetics of the MUAF Brno, the authors present data about associations of alleles and genotypes of locuses CRC, ESR and OBS with some parameters of fertility of boars and sows
