The aim of this work was to observe the growth ability and weight gains in calves of Limousine, Czech Pied cattle and their crosses. The growth and development of calves was followed by 17 body measurements characterising beef performance at the age of 120, 210 and 365 days. Leg musculature at 120 and 210 days in the Limousine breed was the highest, in the Czech Pied breed the lowest. At 120 days the body length measurements in the Limousine breeds reached higher values than in Czech Pied. The statistical evaluation of body measurements resulted in a finding that in the Limousine breed, the growth intensity of the body length measurements from 120 days to 210 days were lower in comparison with the crosses and Czech Pied cattle. From 120 days to 210 days the growth intensity of body length measurements in Czech Pied breed were higher than in the Limousine breed and at 210 days the length values of body measurements in Czech Pied breed are higher than in Limousine breed. From 210 days to 365 days the Limousine breedin comparison with the other genotypes showed the lowest growth intensity. In almost all body measurements observed Limousine breed had the lowest values. During this period the crossbreeds showed the highest growth intensity again
