Cadmium (Cd II) in systems with organic compounds
1997
Babcan, J. | Svec, J. (Comenius Univ., Bratislava (Slovakia). Dept. of Geochemistry)
The influence of selected organic compounds (OC) on the formation of soluble or insoluble systems (bonds) of cadmium was investigated. Most of the OC used do not affect the migration of Cd under natural conditions. Some of them, depending on the pH of the environment, form soluble and insoluble bonds (humic and fulvic acids); significantly, soluble bonds are produced with citric acid and insoluble bonds with oxalic acid. The kinetics of the Cd (sup(2+)) binding reaction with humic acids and the behaviour of citric acid with regard to solubility of CdS and CdCO3 in two pH regions were investigated. The results of bond relationship were related to the properties of forest soils in the Maly Karpaty mountains (Slovakia)
