Altogether 1,792 genotypes of flax are registered in the collection at VUTPL, including 516 regional varieties, 876 general varieties, and 400 samples of basic material. Of the total number of genotypes 956 are of a fibre flax character, 661 of linseed flax, and 170 genotypes of mixed type flax. Table 1 surveys 24 registered flax collections in Europe
