Oil temperature in tractor hydraulic and transmission systems is one of the most important parameters for the use of biologically degradable oils made from plants. This paper describes the evaluation of the transmission and hydraulic systems of a ZTS UR 4 tractor in terms of temperature conditions. The following parameters were measured: temperature of the surface of hydraulic pumps, of oil in the transmission gear box and of the surface of the transmission gear box in the driving place pumps, air temperature at a distance of 5 cm from the surface of hydraulic pumps, inlet and outlet temperatures of pumps and oil radiator, outside air temperature, underpressure of pump suction port, lubricating pressure, input and output pressure of oil radiator, and oil flow at the outlet of oil radiator. Experimental measurements were performed under different loading conditions. In the present paper, the results on the temperature development for tractors during ploughing and soil preparation are presented. The maximum temperature of the surface of hydraulic pumps, oil at the pump outlet and the surface of gear box was 90, 85 and 75 deg C, respectively. The difference between inlet oil temperature and outlet oil temperature was up to 10 deg C. The cooling power oil radiator is obout 4 kW at an oil flow of 14 cubic dm/min. The results show that biologically degradable oils cannot be applied to the hydraulic and transmission systems of ZTS UR 4 tractor
