Survey on fisheries resource in Kraseio reservoir, Suphanburi province was conducted in 1988-1989 after the first ten years of impoundment. The results are summarized as follows; Water temperature range from 24-31 deg celsius, Secchi disc transparency at the sampling area 25-200 cm; pH 5.5-7.2; Do. 4.4-8.0 mg/l; CO2 0-3 mg/l; alkalinity 82-140 mg/l; and hardness 86-125 mg/l. Fish standing crop estimated by spot poisoning was 18.65 kg/rai which compose of Carp 38.58 % Catfish 2.59 % Murrel 9.4 % and Misc. 49.36 %. The forage to carnivorous species (F:C) ratio was 3.89. The catch per unit of effort by electrofishing was 5.48 kg/hr. There were 13 families including 31 species of freshwater fish found in these surveys. Fish diversity index ranged from 1.9870-3.0560. Cage culture of giant snake - head fish increased to 37 with 20 owners in 1988. The cages which are 6*3*2 m in size are made of wood and surrounded by bamboo. Fish are stocked at the rate of 200 figerlings per cubic meter. They are fed with glass fish caught by light attraction from the reservoir. The fish attain the marketable size 0.7-1.3 kg in 8-10 months and can be sold at 25 baht per kg.
