Study on the effect of hand pollination of mango cv. Khiew - Sawoey by certain pollinizers was conducted in relation to fruit set. The mango cv. Khiew - Sawoey was used as the mother tree and hand pollinated by certain pollinizers viz. Khiew - Sawoey, Fa - lun, Mun - Deun - Kao and Chao - Kun - Tip. Open pollinated flowers were also used as for the comparison. The results showed that the percentage of pollen viability of four mango cultivars was high but the percentage of pollen germination was low. The pollen grains from cv. Mun - Deun - Kao gave the highest percentage of pollen germination. The growth of pollen tube was followed by means of fluorescent technique. The results showed that in both crossing Khiew - Sawoey * Mun - Deun - Kao and Khiew - Sawoey * Chao - Kun - Tip, pollen tube penetrated through the style and reached the ovule within 12 hours after pollination, at this time the ovule was highly receptive, The average number of normal pollen tube per flower and percentage of pistils which had normal pollen tube growth in certain part of the styles showed that Khiew - Sawoey * Mun - Deun - Kao combination, gave the highest normal growth at 12 hours after pollination. Whereas in both self pollination of Khiew - Sawoey and Khiew - Sawoey * Fa - Lun combination, pollen tube penetrated through the style and reached the ovule within 12-24 hours after pollination. Abnormalities of pollen tubes growth were found especially in self pollination of Khiew - Sawoey where many pollen tubes bursted at the base of style. Therefore fertilization was not occured in selfing of Khiew - Sawoey. On the other hand normal fertilization was found in the cross pollination of Khiew - Sawoey by several varieties as well as in the open pollinated tree. The highest fruit set at 15 days after pollination was obtained from crossing of Khiew - Sawoey * Mun - Deun - Kao.
