Experiment was consisted of 3 trials; trial 1, In sacco digestibility study in dairy cattle using a nylon bag technique according to randomized complete block design. Trial 2, In vivo digestibility study using 3 dairy cattle with a 3x3 Latin square design Trial 3, voluntary feed intake study using 3 dairy cattle with a 3x3 Latin square design. Three sorghum breeds; Pearl millet (PM), Jumbo (JB) and UT 203 (UT) were utilized as experimental feeds. Dry matter (DM), Organic matter, crude protein (CP), neutral detergant fiber (NDF) and acid detergant fiber (ADF) with JB were greater degraded in the rumen than those with PM and UT. at 0, 6 and 12 hr of incubation period. DM, OM, CP, NDF and ADF with PM were greater degraded in the rumen at 24 and 48 hr of incubation period. Voluntary DM intake tended to be higher for UT as compared with JB and PM. Apparent DM, OM, CP, NDF and ADF digestibilities were higher for animal fed PM as compared with JB and UT, respectively. The results indicated that Pearl Millet can be more efficiently utlized as a roughage source for ruminants than Jumbo and UT 203.
