Efficacy of ivermectin on gastro-intestinal nematode in cattle

Usage of Ivermectin for eradication of Gastro-intestial nematode in 2-4 years old cattle were infected naturally. Three doses of Ivermectin were used for this experiment, 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2 mg/kg by single subcutaneous injection. It was found that a dose of 0.05 mg/kg gave high effect (96.7 %) for eradication. Any gastrointestinal nematode eggs were not found for 6 weeks after injection. Dose of 0.1 and 0.2 mg/kg gave higher effect for eradication (100 %) and gastro-intestinal nematode eggs were not found till 8 weeks after injection. Dose of 0.1 and 0.2 mg/kg could reduce numbers of gastro-intestinal nematode eggs to 0 within 1-2 days. The three doses used in this experiment could reduce gastro-intestinal nematode eggs very effectively
