Effect of crossing of the domestic [Yugoslav] population of Black and White cattle with Holstein-Friesian breed on reproductive and milkability traits

According to the presence of Holstein-Friesian genes, three genotypes were formed: the first 0-25 of Holstein-Friesian genes, the second 26-50 of Holstein-Friesian genes and the third 51-100 of Holstein-Friesian genes, total of 2.000 cows at the first calving. Genetic group of heads of cattle had no significant effect on variation of reproductive traits in relation to general average, except in body mass at birth (P0.01). Highly significant deviation of milk yield, milk fat and 4 fat corrected milk from the general average (P0.01) was recorded, compared to the percentage of milk fat (P0.05). Cows with the highest content of Holstein-Friesian genes had by 0.04 higher percentage of milk fat compared to general average or by 0.07 higher compared to cows with lowest percentage of genes of Holstein breed. The sum of larger number of factors composing the term "herd" caused highly significant deviations (P0.01) of the milk yield and milk fat, as well as the percentage of milk fat compared to the general average.
