Varroasis is widely spread and it presents a serious problem, affecting Yugoslav apiculture since 1976, when this disease was first reported in Yugoslavia. The aim of the investigation was the application of therapeutics based on amitraz, folic acid and fluvalinate in the form of wooden tapes. The investigation was conducted in a large, modern beehive. In order to determine the effect of applied therapeutics on Varroa jacobsoni, they were inserted into the hives and destroyed larvae were counted in sequential time intervals. Preparations based on fluvalinate were the most effective, while amitraz-based products have shown slightly lower efficacy rate.
