The response of tef (Eragrostis tef (Trotter zucc)) genotypes to simulated moisture deficit
1998
Abuhay Takele (Nazret Research Center (Ethiopia))
The response of fifteen pot grown diverse genotypes of tef to two levels of moisture treatment (non-stressed) were investigated under glasshouse conditions. Moisture deficit treatment generally resulted in reduction of dry weights of individual plant parts, plant heights and number of tillers, increased by matter partitioning (LWR and SWR) except RSR. Gnotypic variability was observed as a result of the moisture deficit treatments for grain yield, harvest index, panicle dry weight and panicle length and these variables were markedly reduced by moisture deficit an all genotypes. Among the genotypes, Fesho, Gea-Lemi and Shewa-Gimira performed better than the other genotypes, while Gorradie Goffarie and key murrie had poor performers.
