Formation of transgenic roots on potato explants

The induction of transgenic roots depends on the type of potato cultivars and the type and age of explants used for inoculation with A. rhizogenes. Thus the stem internode of cv. 'Mats' did not produce hair roots. Unusually stem and leaf explants of some potato cultivars gave normal roots
