Increasing aerobic stability of silages prepared with biological additives

The aim of this work was to enhance the effectivity of biological silage additive by application of propionic acid bacteria to increase silage aerobic stability. Red-clover and graninaceous plants, and crushed grain with high dry-matter content were ensiled in small-containers. Addition of lactic acid bacteria inoculant, or their use together with silage additives, increased aerobic stability of silages. Propionic acid bacteria content increased in fodder, while the number of moulds and yeasts decreased
