The variation of yielding ability of meristem clones of potato variety 'Eba'
1998
Rosenberg, V.
15 meristem clones of variety 'Eba' were tested. The meristem clones were obtained from same and from different mother-plants. Before isolation of meristems all mother-plants passed the virus eradication system created in EVIKA. The yield of meristem clones and some characteristics of meristem are given. Current results show that meristem clones differ on their productiveness, disease resistance and on some extent also on dry matter content, but the variation of yield does not depend on location or size of meristemic cut. There was no interaction between mother-plant and yielding ability of meristem clones. Up to now we have not observed convincing interaction between characteristics of meristem and traits of meristem clones. But the results clearly indicate that with the help of scientific selection of meristem clone it is possible to improve quality of seed potato and to correct some traits of varieties
