Studies were conducted to determine the efficacy of 0.03% neen seed oil product (NSO) either as contact poisons on mites, aphids and weevils of tea or antifeedant on weevils of tea. It was demonstrated that the neem seed oil is effective as contact poison for control of citrus aphid Toxoptera aurantii. The product is however. less effective on red spider mite (Olygonychus coffeae) and Kangaita weevils (Entypotrachelus meyeri). Direct application of the neem product at 2.5% concentration on the pests significantly reduced their survival after 24 hours. The antifeedant effect of neem product on Kangaita weevil varied at different concentrations. At 2.5% concentration, on citrus aphid T. aurantii and 20 %, it was effective as antfeedant on the weevils E. meyeri. The NSO product has potentential of being used against spider mites, citrus aphid attack and weevils in tea nurseries and in the field.
