Various presowing soil preparation types for buckwheat were investigated on the sandy loam soil. In spring the soil was tilled according to the following model : 1. Soil harrowing. 2. Single soil cultivation and harrowing for two-three times. 3. Soil was cultivated and harrowed twice. 4. Harrowed once, cultivated and harrowed one more time. 5. Deep single cultivation. It was observed that for the weedy soil with a couch-grass incidence a cultivator with harrows must be used more intensively. Having cultivated only with harrows, the number of weeds increased, the crop was sparse and the yield was very low (370-390 kg/ha). Sccording to the average data, a two-time tillage using a cultivator with harrows in comparison with a single use of harrows reduced the number of weeds by 28.4-31.5, the yield was 660 kg/ha.
