A field trial was conducted to find correlation of seed to field incidence of Alternaria alternata and Macrophomina phaseolina in sunflower. Results revealed that pre and post emergence mortality increased due to increase in seed infection level of both the pathogens. On the other hand, yield and 100 seeds weight decreased significantly (P 0.01). No significant difference was found in yield and seed weight at 5 and 10 percent seed infection of M. phaseolina and A. alternata over control respectively. It was concluded that this infection level can be tolerated in seed for sowing. It will help in protection of environment from indiscriminate use of chemicals.
