In 1990-94 a pot experiment was conducted in the greenhouse to determine the effects of changing soil moisture contents during the growing season of winter triticale grown in light soil and two rates of mineral fertilizers on yield and its components. Increasing NPK rates increased grain weight per pot mainly due to the increased grain number per plant, despite reduced weight of 1000 grains. The highest grain yield was obtained for treatments with constant soil moisture during the growing season (90 and 70 percent capillary water capacity) and for treatments with 70 percent capillary water capacity maintained till flowering, during maturation and from flowering to maturation
