In the years 1992-94 on 491 private farms situated in the south-western Poland there was examined the intensity outlays on plant protection in the cultivation of winter wheat, spring barley, potatoes and sugar beets. Compering the intensity of outlays on plant protection in different cultivations and in different area groups led to the conclusion that the rise of the area of a farm is accompanied by the rise of the level of the intensity of plant protection. Costs of fighting the same agrophags were basically similar but the profitability of the plant protection was very different
