Susceptibility of fruit tree rootstocks to crown gall (Agrobacterium tumefaciens)
1996
Sobiczewski, P. (Research Institute of Pomology and Floriculture, Skierniewice (Poland))
Five species of fruit tree rootstocks were most susceptible to infection with Agrobacterium tumefaciens during the high activity of cambium, especially during the period corresponding to bloom. Various strains of A. tumefaciens originating from various host plants showed no pathogenic specialization in relation to particular species of rootstock. Also, the virulence of the strains was found to have different characteristics in different phenological phases of inoculated rootstocks
