Digestibility coefficients and energy value of several feeds for swine

Thirty pigs (initial weight of 44,74 +- 0,83 Kg) were used in metabolism essays for determing the digestibility coefficients for DM (DMCD), CP (CPDC), digestible (DE) and metabolissable (ME) energy of the following feeds: pre-cooked corn, crude soybean prepared in two ways (extruded and steam toasted) and maize flour biscuit residues. The method employed was the one of total feaces and urine collection using ferric oxid as faecal marker, in the proportion of 2%. The ingredients were substituted for 30% of the basal diet, in the DM basis. The energetic values (DE and ME) of raw soybeans were lower than the ones recommended in the literature and the ones of pre-cokeed corn were according to the recommend levels. The energetic values determined in there experiments can be used in the elaboration of a national table of feed composition
