Among other things, the effect of NPK fertilization on the weight ratios of N, K, Ca and Mg to Zn, Mn and Fe was investigated. With increasing fertilizer doses, the N:Zn and K:Zn ratios decreased. The Zn content in cocksfoot-grass did not show a significant dependency on the dose of the fertilizers. The fertilizer doses decreased the Ca:Mn and Mg:Mn ratios in meadow sward and cocksfoot-grass. The N:Mn and K:Mn ratios, however, did not show a significant dependency on the dose of fertilizers. The use of highest doses of NPK increased the N:Fe and K:Fe ratios while decreasing the biological value of hay. It follows from the results that the N and K fertilizer doses should be reduced
