Selected problems of the Law on Agriculture (1997) in the Czech Republic and its implementation

The purpose of the Law on Agriculture , No. 152/1997, can be divided into three items: creation of conditions for the competitiveness of the Czech farmers and the agriculture as a whole agriculture with respect to the provision of nutrition for the entire population; the support for extra-productional function of the agriculture as the environmental protection; compensation of lost suffered by farmers which should affect positively the reduction of economic diference caused by objective reasons as natural disasters or vermin. The aim of this law is not to reduce the competitive capacity of the Czech agriculture but the effors for regulation of such deviations which could harm seriously its efficiency and the utilisation of domestic capacities. The paper concentrates on two aspects of the Law on Agriculture and its implementation by governmental decrees - the import regulations and the compensation of adverse result which can not be influenced by the farmers itself
