Structural characteristics of to Daeng Peat Swamp Forest, Changwat Narathiwat
1994
Supawadee Sirirattanagon
Forest consists of 46 tree species with the density of 1,381 trees per hectare. The basal area of the trees is 0.333 percent of the sample plot area. DBH and H distribution of the trees are L and bell shapes, respectively, it indicates that the forest is at good succession. The dominant tree species determined by using IVI was similar to that determined by using the minimum value of d from the equation of Ohsawa (1984). They are Eugenia tumida, Ganua motleyana, Eugenia grandis, Neesia altissima, Eugenia chlorantha, Polyalthia curtisii, Campnosperma coriaceum and Sterculia bicolor. The values of species diversity calculated by using the following formulas: Fisher's index, Shannon-Wiener index, Simpson's index, McIntosh's MC1 and Mclntosh's MC2 were 9.1592, 3.8219, 0.8587, 0.6405 and 0.6233, respectively. The richness indices of R1 and R2 are 6.2236 and 1.2378, respectively. The values of diversity index by using Hill's diversity number of lambda, H, N1 and N2 are 0.1413, 2.6491, 14.1413 and 7.0771, respectively. The values of evenness index; E1, E2, E3, E4 and E5 are 0.6919, 0.3074, 0.2920, 0.5005 and 0.4624, respectively. The vetical stratification determined by using Profile diagram method and Crown depth diagram method which could be divided into three layers including above 18.5 m, 10.5-18.5 m and below 10.5 m. Regarding to tree distribution pattern, the total individuals of the trees were random but for the trees with high values of IVI were contagious. Crown cover of the forest was 51.81 percent. Total above ground biomass of the trees esstimated by using Allometric correlation method and Non destructive method are 212.513 and 161.00 tons per hectare, respectively. Geometric mean values of relative light intensity at 0 and 1 m above ground level were 21.14 and 26.31 percent, respectively with lognormal frequency distribution of the relative light intensity.
