Preliminary laboratory experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of sodium phosphate (Na2HPO4) levels, salinity (NaCl) and pH in culture media on growth and chlorophyll content of blue green algae, Anabaena, Calothrix and Nostoc. Further pot experiment was performed to determine the interaction between suprephosphate fertilizer levels and blue-green algae on growth of rice (Oryza sativa L.) var. SP. 90. Maximum growth and chlorophyll content of Anabaena was observed in culture medium contained 0.01 Na2HPO4 g/l, 0.25 percent NaCl and pH 7. Whereas addition of 0.1 percent NaCl, 0.004-0.008 Na2HPO4 g/l and pH 9 in culture medium was found to be the most suitable medium for Calothrix and Nostoc growth. Chlorophyll content was also high. However, addition of high concentration of NaCl (1-2 percent) in culture media, growth of Anabaena, Calothrix and Nostoc were inhibited and chlorophyll contents were decreased. Using blue-green algae Anabaena, Calothrix, Nostoc and mixed algae (Anabaena+Calothrix+Nostoc) as biofertilizer with rice variety Supanburi 90 resulted in increasing rice growth and productivity. Application of phosphate fertilizer alone would also promote rice production. However, Application of blue green algae together with phosphate fertilizer, rice growth and productivity were highly increased. Using Anabaena or mixed algae with 90 kg.P2O5/ha. gave the highest yield in terms of seed weight. On the other hand using Anabaena with 60 kg.P2O5/ha. the tallest hight of rice plant was observed. Application 30 kg.P2O5/ha. together with either Nostoc, Anabaena, Calothrix or mixed algae the maximum dry weight of rice straw were obtained.
