Study on water quality, quantity of chlorophyll a,b,c and community of macrobenthos in Pawong canal and outer Songkhla Lake. Pawong canal has been heavily contaminated by organic waste from canning, fish meal and frozen factories. Tha averages of total ammonia in Pawong canal and outer Songkhla Lake were 1.040 and 0.033 mg-N/l; 5.28 and 1.57 mg/l for B.O.D.; 4.2 and 6.3 mg/l for D.O.; 226.67 and 12.64 micro g/l for chlorophyll a respectively. Water qualities influence on chlorophyll a as nitrite 86.93 percent and orthophosphate 10.76 percent. No macrobenthos found at the inner most of canal where organic waste discharged. The Shannon Diversity Index at station LK2 was lowest (0.01) and highest (1.61) at station LK3.
