The main biological characteristics of the wine sorts, significant for the evaluation of their technological values and characteristics, have been tested. These are: the yield of the grapes, the content of sugar and acids in the must and the uvological characteristics of the most important sorts of the vineyards area in Grocka (Serbia, Yugoslavia), such as: Smederevka, Italian Riesling, Prokupac, Gamay Black, Black Burgundy and Cabernet Souvignon. These varieties have been transplanted on the rootstocks 5BB, SO4 and 41B. The values of the fertility indices and the grape quality varied significantly depending on the biological characteristics of the variety, the impact of the vine bases, meteorological conditions in certain years and the use ampelotechnics.
