Contemporary achievements and aims in pig production considering meat quality

The authors presented number of pigs in Yugoslavia from 1991 to 1997 and they found constant stagnation in their number and decrease of 3.17. The number of slaughtered pigs in 1993 was 31.96, in 1994 43.90, in 1995 20.09, and in 1996 19.31 less comparatively with 1992. Total production of pork meat in comparison with 1990 was smaller in 1991 for 12.71, in 1992 for 15.46, in 1993 for 13.40, in 1994 for 7.90 and in 1995 for 5.15. In 1996 there was increase of 1.37. The authors gave proposals for measures for increasing of number of pigs, better reproduction, higher nutrition quality, room in accordance to the capacity, more profitable management and different organization of pig and pork meat producers, with the aim to reach the level of leading pig producers in the world in next few years.
