Powdery mildew on the leaves of barberries (Berberis L.)

The authors of the present paper are investigates some morphological characteristics of Microsphaera berberidis measured 50 cleistothecia for each specimen in 1 per cent lactic acid, using an ocular micrometer of the microscope IAE-6 at magnification of 700. The most important results of the present study are mean of the cleistothecial diameter in micro m, the number of the appendages per cleistothecia, the ratio of lenghts of the appendages and cleistothecia dameters (1/d) of the Microsphaera berberidis on the different species of barberries in Estonia, in the Russian Far East and in the Southern Siberia. The authors of the present study are of the opision that the determining of varieties of Microsphaera berberidis is a rather difficult task and their occurrence suspicions at all
