Results of feeding trials involving 29 experimental groups were used to test the system. Besides the Hungarian system (MF), MP (AFRC, 1992), PDI (INRA, 1989) and AAT-PBV (Hvelplund and Madsen) systems were also compared. Mean liveweight and daily gain varied between 254-389 kg and from 1066 to 1549 g, respectively. Correlation coefficients between daily gain and crude protein, degradable protein, undegraded protein AAT, PBV, MP, PDI and MF intakes were 0.56***, 0.15, 0.54**, 0.68***, 0.02, 0.71*** and 0.70***, respectively. Protein intake according to the up-to-date protein evaluation systems showed higher correlation with the performance of growing finishing bulls than either crude protein intake or ruminal degradability of the protein.
