The effect of different levels of pistacia khinjuk seeds on laying hens performance in the first phase of egg production
2000
Saffarzadeh, Ali | Szuts, G.
The experiment was conducted over a 12 weeks period with one hundred and sixty, 24 week old White-Leghorn hens. Experimental treatment diets containing 0, 5, 10 and 15 % Pistacia khinjuk seeds were given to caged laying hens, in the first phase (weeks of age 24-36). Egg production rate, egg number, egg weight, egg mass, feed intake, feed conversion rate, mortality rate and body weight were not significantly affected by the experimental diets. It could be concluded from this study for the first time that up to 15% Pistacia khinjuk seeds could be used in the ration of laying hens during first phase of egg production (weeks of age 24-36) without adverse effects on performance.
