Mineral analysis of the forages as ruminant feed using X-ray fluorescent spectrometry (XRF)

anglais. An experiment was conducted to evaluate mineral contents of forages as ruminant feed. Samples used in this experiment were maize straw, cassava leaf, leucaena leaf, king grass, teki grass, Imperata cylindrica and field grass. These samples were collected from several locations of ranches in Mataram, Lombok island. Samples were measured for dry matter content, and then were formed into pellet in the size of diameter 3 cm and 0,1 cm thick, as required by the XRF analysis. Excitation of 109Cd and 55Fe radioisotopes were used as the initial energy for XRF analysis. Result of the analysis of macro elements show that P content was below the detection limit of XRF for Imperata cylindrica and field grass, while for other samples were between 0.18 percent and 0.80 percent. In all samples S content were between 0.12 and 0.33 percent. Potassium content in leucaena and cassava leaves were low; i.e. 2.49 and 1.28 percent, respectively, however, the concentration of Ca was high in these samples, i.e. 2.13 and 0.74 percent respectively. Except leucaena leaves, which was found to be the lowest, result of micro elements analysis showed that Si ranged between 0.34 and 3.24 percent. On the other hand, Cr content in leucaena leaves was the highest, i.e. 104 ppm, as compared to the other forages which were undetectable. Manganese was also found undetectable in maize straw and field grass, while in other forages ranged between 65.50 and 178 ppm. Iron was found in all forages i.e. 330-1780 ppm. Cobalt was only detected in maize straw, which is 27.6 ppm. All forages samples contained Cu and Zn with an average range 4.10-6.84 ppm and 43.30-73.50 ppm, respectively

Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah hijauan yang biasa dimakan oleh ternak. Sampel yang dianalisis adalah jerami jagung, daun turi, daun singkong, rumput raja, rumput teki, dan alang-alang yang diperoleh di lokasi peternakan sekitar Mataram, Lombok. Sampel yang telah diketahui berat keringnya kemudian dibuat pelet dengan diameter 3 cm dan tebal 0,1 cm, selanjutnya dianalisis dengan alat spektrofotometer pendar sinar-X, dan sebagai sumber pengeksiasi digunakan 109Cd dan 55Fe. Hasil analisis kuantitatif unsur makro adalah sebagai berikut: Kandungan P terendah terdapat pada alang-alang dan rumput lapangan, sedang hijauan lain mengandung P sebesar 0,18-0,80 persen. Kandungan unsur S berkisar antara 0,12-0,33 persen, unsur K paling rendah terdapat pada daun turi dan daun singkong, yaitu sebesar 2,49 dan 1,28 persen, sedang pada daun tersebut konsentrasi Ca tinggi, yaitu sebesar 2,13 dan 0,74 persen. Hasil analisis kuantitatif unsur mikro adalah sebagai berikut: Kandungan Si berkisar antara 0,34-3,24 persen dan yang paling rendah pada daun turi, sebaliknya daun turi kandungan Cr paling tinggi yaitu sebesar 104 ppm, sedang tanaman lain tidak terbaca. Pada jerami jagung dan alang-alang unsur Mn tidak terbaca, pakan hijauan lain berkisar antara 65,5-178 ppm, sedang unsur Fe terdapat merata pada semua hijauan berkisar antara 330-1780 ppm. Unsur Co hanya terdapat pada jerami jagung, sedang pada hijauan lain rendah. Kandungan unsur Cu dan Zn terdapat merata pada semua hijauan, berkisar antara 4,10-6,84 ppm dan 43,30-73,50 ppm
