Some aspects of performance of Awassi, arabi and imported merino sheep.

A study was carried-out to evalute some of the factors affecting productive performance of three breeds of sheep; Awassi, Arabi and merino. The factors studied to estimate their effects: bread of animal, age of dam, sex and type of birth on the traits studied; length of gestation period, weight of lambs at birth and rate of survival of lambsup to weaning age (3 months). The results indicated that breed of animal age of dam and sex of lamb had no significant effect on the lenght of gastation period, but type of birth was significanty affected (P0.05), it was indicated that the gestation period for single birth was 2.585 days shorther than that for twin birth.
