A study was conducted on the experimental farm of the Lithuanian Institute of Animmal Science with Lithuanian Black-and-White cows to determine fermentation of nitrogenous matter and carbohydrates in the rumen after replacement of soybean meal by lysine seed (Danko) meal in compound feeds for cows. The replacement of soybean meal by lysine seed meal (16) in the diets to cows revealed a tendency towards an increase in ammonia nitrogen by 1.74 mg in the rumen contents. The use of lupine seed meal had no influence on the concentration and ratio of volatile fatty acids
