The feeding of brown crossbred layers: a review
1999
Wiltenburg, I. (Boxmeer (Netherlands))
In the last decade, the genetic potential of the brown crossbred laying hens has improved strongly and has come close to that of the white Leghorn type layer. As a result of the improved performance, the percentage of brown layers on the total number of layers has increased rapidly worldwide. But the improved genetics can only come to full expression when the feeding and management are adapted to the genetic potential. In this review, the latest research and field results with brown layers are discussed with special attention to the rearing and prelay period.
