The relationship between gastrointestinal diseases and reproductive performance in cows

The aim of the present work was to identify the transformations of reproductive performance in cows in relation to non-infectious gastrointestinal diseases. The research was carried out in dairy farms of agricultural companies and individual farmers in Lithuania in 1997-1998. A relationship was determined between gastrointestinal diseases and reproductive performance of cows. Gastrointestinal diseases increased the frequency of pathology of cows pregnancy calving and post-partum period. The pathological transformations prolonged the involution of genitals after calving, worsened the efficacy of insemination and increased the number of sterile cows. Due to gastrointestinal diseases the probability of pathology in cows' reproductive performance increased.
