Effect of semiochemicals on efficiency and parasitism by Trichogramma evanescens (Westwood), an egg parasitoid of Asian corn borer

Responses of Trichogramma evanescens (Westwood) females to crude kairomones from Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenee) and synomones from plants were most intense for the scale and corn leaf extracts, respectively, both in the laboratory and greenhouse. The results showed no significant differences between the pre-conditioned and non-preconditioned T. evanescens females in terms of response to the different extracts. Application of both O. furnacalis scale and corn leaf extracts enhanced the rate of parasitization by T. evanescens both in the laboratory and greenhouse
