Effect of age on somatic cells in cow's milk

Number of somatic cells in milk (LKS) in relation to cow's age was analysed. The number of somatic cells in 1 ml of milk increased together with the age from 177 000 in the youngest animals (age up to 3.5 years) to 850 900 in animals at the age above 10 years, i.e. the oldest. The average LKS in the milk of cows from groups at the age above 3.5 years was increased and exceeded 500 000 in 1 ml
