Production and economic results of growing field vegetables in the region of Olsztyn [Poland]

The objective of the study was to determine the costs of production of particular species of field vegetables. On the basis of costs and incomes from sales the worthwhileness of production was estimated. The production of field vegetables realized in 1995-97 not profitable. In 1996-95 the index of profitabiliy slightly dropped, and in 1997 it was increased in all the vegetable grown. The highest profitability index (about 200 percent) was obtained from the culture of carrots and leeks
