The research aimed at establishing to what extent the occurrence of mastitis in milked ewes is related to their genotype, lactation period and the year observation. The study was carried out over a period of four years on total 565 ewes - Polish Merino, a prolific breed Merinofinn Mf-40 and F1 crosses of M ewes with rams of the following prolific breeds: Finnsheep, Romanov and Booroola. The ewes' genotype proved to have a significant effect on the occurrence of mastitis. The genotype affected also the somatic cell count in milk, as well as the milk bacterial infection
