Civil-legal determinants of agrarian structure in Poland

Polish agrarian structure has been shaped for many years by different factors. Most important of them comprise legal regulations, economic and demographic conditions, agricultural policy supporting or hampering development of private farms, size of public liabilities, etc. The principal is regulation, especially civil law. All elements of agricultural policy operate through their translation into language of legal acts. Legal regulations may directly affect the shape of acreage structure when certain institutions act as legal force. This paper studies their influence on changing agrarian structure in case of joining Poland to the UE against the background of different periods after World War II
