[Sales of plant protection products in Portugal in 1998]

The quantities of plant protection products sold during 1998 are presented by function and by chemical group. According to their function the quantities of active ingredients were present when their are sold by more than three companies. In 1998 were sold 14381688 Kg of active ingredients of plant protection products. Fungicides contributed with 73% to the total of pesticides sales, with 10475504 Kg. The amount of herbicides sold was 1913894 Kg, the equivalent to 13% of sales. The quantity of insecticides and acaricides sold was 1078957 Kg or 8% of the total volume. In an appendix is presented a summary, in English, of the sales of plant protection products using EUROSTAT classification of chemicals groups, and the legends of the tables and figures of the text
